Partners

The VRforDrugRehabilitation partnership joins partners who have been carefully selected due to their previous experience in EU-funded projects, and professional expertise in varied fields, including drug rehabilitation, probation services, virtual reality technology and criminal justice sector consultancy.

The partnership is composed by government agencies, universities, companies and NGOs working in the probation and social reintegration field. Each team brings together multiple experts who have been working the different angles of youth social reintegration and substance misuse rehabilitation.

​The consortium is represented by four European countries that geographically represent Southeast (Turkey, Romania) and Southwest (Portugal, Spain) Europe.

District Governorate of Torbali (DGT) is the project’s promotor. They have a strong and well- experienced project team and represent the Local Government, having strong leadership and decision-making skills. DGT have extensive experience in project implementation and have been involved in the development of project such as the "You Are Not Alone!" project, which aims to address the needs of severely disabled individuals (including people with substance misuse problems) in cooperation with public institutions and NGO’s and the "Protect Your Future!" project, focused on the positive impact of social, sports and cultural activities to the social cohesion of disadvantaged individuals in the addiction risk group.​

Izmir Probation Directorate

Izmir Probation Directorate (Izmir DSM) have the responsibility of working with probationers with addiction problems and prevent re-offending, minimizing victim’s harm with training programmes seeking to protect the community. Izmir DSM will implement and pilot the project in Turkey. They manage and supervise offenders through community restitution, electronic monitoring systems and training programmes. They collaborate with other governmental and non-governmental associations, municipalities, professional chambers, The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, Izmir Development Agency and universities for international, national and local projects. Izmir DSM have a well-experienced team in substance misuse rehabilitation and their experts (psychologists, social workers, teachers, sociologists) conduct weekly group sessions with around 420 offenders. In addition, Izmir DSM organise and held seminars regarding drug addiction on a weekly basis to a significant number of offenders. They have previous experience working with some of the organisations of the consortium, including IPS in the ActiveGames4Change project.​

IPS_Innovative Prison Systems

From Portugal, IPS_Innovative Prison Systems, a specialised justice consultancy firm with a decade of expertise in policy advisory, strategic consulting, training, e-learning consultancy and development of information technologies for probation and correctional systems. IPS develops integrated projects, supporting change management in complex organizations. Besides having a vast experience in developing EU-funded projects, IPS is  specialised in prison and probation innovation and capacity building approaches in prison and probation contexts. Together with the International Prisons and Corrections Association (associated partner), IPS will also be responsible for the dissemination of the project, offering a wide range of knowledge exchange opportunities allowing to compare, acknowledge and adopt practices and innovation from a country to another.

​The Ege University Institute on Drug Abuse, Toxicology and Pharmaceutical Science (BATI) is a landmark institution in the field of addiction, drug abuse and related areas, providing the necessary know-how for the evaluation of the VRforDrugRehabilitation programme for young adults with addiction problems and professionals who work with this group. Its Department of Drug Abuse is working towards solutions in cooperation with related national and international foundations for regulations in every field that is affected by the issue. They seek to increase the qualified manpower by following up the science and technology about drug abuse and related areas, carrying out research and educational activities for the benefit of science and society, and serving as a reference foundation.

Savunmasan R&D was established to meet the needs of the industry. It is an R&D company that started its activities by specializing in software, internet projects, robotics and artificial intelligence technologies, intelligence systems, electronic warfare technologies, VR, AR, MR and Mobile applications. By obtaining ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Certificate in order to reinforce its understanding of quality, it opens a branch in Istanbul after Izmir and works to provide the highest level of customer satisfaction with each of its trained customer representatives.

From Romania, European Strategies Consultancy is a research/development & consultancy company aiming to promote good practices in the area of corrections and social inclusion. Its main activities are organized around prison and probation areas. Up to now, the company provided research for the Confederation of European Probation and National Offender Management Service in UK (NOMS). They will provide useful insights in the development of the training solutions for probation and probationers.
